Paula Ann DeMonico has been a working professional in the Performing Arts field for over 35 years. She is a singer, songwriter, actor, dancer, voice actress, stunt woman, choreographer and musical theater director. Her talents and experience span from the stage to film and television, to the music industry to performing arts education. Raised in Connecticut, she began her dance training at the early age of three at Bernice’s School of Dance in Guilford and at the New Haven Ballet in New Haven, where she performed numerous times in a variety of roles at the Shubert Theater and the Palace Theater. She attended the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA where she majored in dance and theater. Then went on to train with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in New York City. As an on stage actress, Paula Ann has performed numerous lead roles ranging from “Sandy” in “Grease”, “Babe” in “The Pajama Game”, to “Audry” in “Little Shop Of Horrors” among others. She has done voice acting work for video games, anime and television commercials. She has worked as a stunt woman for such actresses as Kelly Rippa, Cherly Ladd and Brittney Murphy.
As a dance instructor Paula Ann teaches a variety of styles and techniques to both adults and children, ranging from Tap, Ballet, Broadway Jazz, Musical Theater, Lyrical, Modern, Ballroom, Line Dancing and an original class she designed called “Kung Fu Hip Hop”. A combination of Kung Fu martial arts utilizing foam nun-chuks combined with Hip Hop Dance. While living in CT, she also owned and operated her own Dance and Musical Theater Production Company.
Prior to her recent move to Foley, Alabama, Paula Ann was an Instructor for twelve consecutive years for Vista Life Innovations, a Connecticut based organization dedicated to helping adults with Special Needs achieve personal success. Within that time she choreographed “Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”, “Wizard of Oz”, “The Addams Family” and “Sister Act” for “A Shared Stage Productions”, an all abilities production company utilizing the talents of Vista members and students plus members from the outside theatre community. Those productions were performed at the Ivoryton Playhouse in Essex, CT and at The Kate (The Katherine Hepburn Theatre) in Old Saybrook, CT. Paula Ann also choreographed “Little Shop Of Horrors” and “Six Dance Lessons In Six Weeks” for the Ivoryton Playhouse. She was the Co-Director and Choreographer for Guilford Youth & Family Services “GY&FS”, working with children’s theater in “The Pirate’s Of Penzance Jr.”, Disney’s “Aladdin, Jr.”, “Beauty And The Beast” Jr.”, “Fame Jr.”, “Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory Jr.”, and “Peter Pan Jr.”.
As a Musical Theatre Director, Choreogapher and Dance Instructor, Paula Ann has the unique ability to work with a wide range of students, ranging from beginner to advanced, from adults, to children and Special Needs adults.
